Where it all began

Eau Claire, WI, October 24, 2009 – The problem made him frustrated enough to start his own company. Like many people into independent music, Tony Vanden Bush found himself surfing free internet radio stations looking for new music. He heard a band he liked. He clicked to buy. He was taken to Amazon – but couldn't find the single - or any other music by the band for that matter. Going back to the radio station got him nowhere. Search after search left him frustrated with his lunch hour wasted. 

His frustration, coupled with encouragement from partners Jake Vanden Bush and George Andrews, was the catalyst for founding BandwithRadio, LLC. BandwithRadio is an entirely new music service that allows customers to listen to new, independent music – and then buy that music directly from the site itself. Not only does the site offer ‘one stop shopping,’ it is also is heavily skewed towards the bands' success. Bands upload music and use the site services for free. 

In addition, BandwithRadio gives a lion's share of music sale profits from all downloaded music and merchandise to the bands themselves. Listeners pay just one dollar per download.

Through our love of music, we at bandwith.org wanted to make a place where unsigned and independent musicians, music venues, music lovers, and music labels could meet, ultimately putting people who love music in touch with NEW music!

Bandwith Is

• an independent digital music store and radio station... who believes in supporting unsigned/independent bands and labels
• interested in ALL GENREs of independent music any and all unsigned/independent artists are welcome
• for serious listeners... it's free to sample music, but downloads are paid. The largest possible percentage of each purchase goes directly to the band. When listeners purchase tracks, they know that they've made a real difference to that band

Bandwith Is Not

• About the past... If you are interested in hearing popular music from 20-40 years ago - there are already a lot of music services for that. Bandwith.org is about discovering new music.
• A competition... Bandwith.org will be respectful of its members by allowing listeners to discover new music without the baggage of the number of "votes" a band has.

How We Operate

• uploading songs and being a part of BandwithRadio is FREE!
• Bandwith accepts music from independent and unsigned bands to be sold through our music store. Bands can opt to have their songs played on a streaming internet radio station to potentially expand their fan-base.

• advertising space is extremely limited
• the web site is about the music, not about ads
